It says I need approval
What it means when an assistant says your administrator has not approved the connection, how long it waits, and what to do.
Updated 17 October 2026
Your assistant shows, or says in its own words:
Your administrator has not approved this connection yet.
What it means
Your organisation's policy asks an administrator to approve each new connection. Until one does, your assistant can connect but every request is refused. The consent page told you this before you chose Connect.
On Connected apps (under My Profile), the connection shows Waiting for your administrator.
What to do
- Tell an administrator at your organisation that you have connected an assistant and it is waiting. They are also told automatically.
- Wait for them to approve it. You do not need to connect again.
- Once it is approved, try your question again. You are told when it is approved.
How long it waits
A connection waits for up to 7 days. If nobody approves it in that time, it lapses and shows as never approved. Connect the assistant again to ask once more.
The length of the connection (for example 90 days) counts from the day it is approved, not the day you made it.
If it is declined
Your administrator may decline the connection. The assistant then cannot reach EstatesBase. It usually says it is no longer signed in, or asks you to sign in again. On Connected apps, the connection moves to Recently ended.
Ask your administrator why. They may want you to choose fewer areas or sites, or to use a different assistant.
Approving changes
Some changes an assistant suggests are proposed rather than made at once. They wait on the Approvals page in EstatesBase until someone with the right to approve them does so, and the person who asked can never approve their own. A change to the organisation's settings is approved by another administrator with administrator mode on. Those approvals are separate from approving a connection.
